What is meant by bid opening?
Bid opening describes the moment in the tendering procedure when the bids from the bidders, which have been sealed up until then, are opened by the lead negotiator. In addition to the lead negotiator, another representative of the client must be present. For tenders in accordance with the German Construction Tendering and Contract Regulations, the bid amounts, bidders’ addresses and number of suggested amendments/alternative bids are read out and logged in the presence of the bidders. The term “submission date” is sometimes used to describe the opening date. “Submission” and “submission date” are hardly used now. They were also not used previously when awarding supply and service provision contracts.
