CO2 neutrality

What is meant by CO2 neutrality?

CO2 neutrality is achieved when there is a balance between carbon emissions and the uptake of carbon from the atmosphere in carbon sinks. This means that to achieve net zero emissions, all greenhouse gas emissions must be offset by carbon capture. A company can achieve carbon neutrality by reducing and offsetting its greenhouse gas emissions.

Climate neutrality is often used synonymously with CO2 neutrality. (Note: Scientists make a slight distinction in the use of the two terms).
